Assignment #3: Case Study You will work to choose a crisis or legal dispute that has affected the meetings, events, or sports industry (or seriously affected a single meeting, event, or sports event) and write a thorough analysis expected to be 5-7 double spaced pages long and well organized with headers and clear explanations of what occurred, how it was handled, the outcome and the fallout (i.e. a regulation was changed, an annual event was discontinued, etc.) Include a list of resources that pertain not only to the case itself but to key issues in the case (i.e. if your case is a specific attrition dispute, include a resource list for further learning about attrition). Write and format your assignment in a way that would help you understand the case if this was a reading assigned to you for this course. That is, use headers to organize the sections of your paper and make sure the flow is such that a meeting or event planner (or student) would derive both new knowledge and practical benefit by reading your analysis. Think of this as a white paper on your selected topic or case. Students will also present their findings in a class presentation. Students can utilize powerpoint or other methods to present their findings but the presentation should be no more than 10 minutes. This assignment should be supported by at least five references that were not assigned in class. Readings assigned in class may also be used as references, but at least five should not be from class. Students should have paper topics approved in writing by the professor no later than the fifth week of class. Las Vegas Mass Shooting
Introduction

The mass shooting has no fixed definition, but the standard description of the term is the
violent act where a gunman kills more than four individuals. Based on the given definition, most
studies conducted from 1966 to date reveal that the United States is the top nation where mass
shooting takes place often. Between 1967 to date, more than 150 mass shootings have occurred
in the United States according to the records that the Gun Violence Archive has released
recently. In this case, the average number of fatalities in every incident is estimated to be eight
people, including the death of the perpetrator. Since the United States has the highest number of
mass shootings than any other nation, most of the perpetrators are considered to be white males.
In most cases, the perpetrators conduct the act alone after which die from either suicide,
restraining, sentenced to death. The least number of people killed in a mass shooting is eight and
the most significant number is 58 in Las Vegas on 1 st October 2017. In Miami, eight people were
killed on 20th August 1982 (Campion & Drazen, 2017). The same number of individuals died in
the mass shooting that occurred in Louisville on 14th September 1989, in San Francisco on 1st
July 1993, in Omaha on 5th December 2007, in Carthage on 29th March 2009, in Christopher
Speight on 19th January 2010, and in Seal Beach on 12th October 2011. Las Vegas mass shooting
had the highest number of deaths, and therefore the incident will be described more.
