The midpoint is established by adding the corresponding coordinates of two given points and dividing each sum by two to obtain the mid-coordinate. Take for example the following two points:

A( 4,6)       B(2,8)

To find the midpoint, this is how you do it:

Add the x-coordinates first and divide by 2...........(4+2)/2=3

Then add the y-coordinates and divide the result by 2.........(6+8)/2=7

The midpoint is therefore   (3,7)
