The Chunk of Salt is NaCl (sodium chloride) which is a very common compound which can be easily purified by cristallization,

In the other hand we have the "Candy" is a mixture that contains a lot of sugar but also flavors and colorants for example:

Flavour Gummi’s Ingredients: Corn Syrup, Sugar, Gelatin, Citric Acid, Sorbitol, Natural and Artificial Flavours, Pectin, FD&C Yellow #5, Yellow #6, Blue #1, Red #40, Vegetable Oil (Coconut) and Carnauba Wax (Used for Anti-Sticking)

Peppermint Patties Ingredients Sugar, Corn Syrup, Semi Sweet Chocolate (Chocolate, Sugar, Cocoa, Milkfat, Cocoa Butter, Soy Lecithin, PGPR, Emulsifier, Vanillin Artificial Flavour), Invert Sugar, Egg Whites, Oil of Peppermint
