Solve this system of linear equation x=1+y  -9x+8y=-17

May 27th, 2015

the system can be written as

x-y=1

-9x+8y=-17

eliminating x, then
(x-y=1)*9
-9x+8y=-17

9x-9y=9
-9x+8y=-17 then we add the equations to get,
0x-y=-8
-y=-8
y=8

replacing the value of y=8 in x-y=1 we get,
x-8=1
x=1+8
x=9
hence x=9 and y=8
