Question 1

Multitasking is the act of an individual to handle more than one task at the same time.
According to the research being conducted by psychologists’ shows that people take longer time
completing tasks when they are multitasking since the brain does not does not have full focus on
the activity. According to the research which was done by Meyer and David Kieras showed that
when a person is multitasking the brain is forced to pause when one is switching from one
activity to the other. The brain does not make any progress when switching and this lowers the
performance of the tasks and losing time in the process (Meyer & Kieras, 2011).

The research which was carried out by Jordan Grafman suggested that a person is
allowed to leave something which is not complete by the anterior part of the brain and he returns
to the same place continuing from there. The research showed that the brain is forced to process
all the activities in the anterior when one is focusing on multiple dissimilar tasks. The brain
cannot perform multitasking well due to its complexity (Dreher, Koechlin, Tierney & Grafman,
2012).

The research which was conducted by Monica Luciana suggests that the human brain can
be trained on how to multitask. She suggests that the capability of the brain in categorizing
competing information have a continuous development until the age of sixteen and seventeen

multitasking compared to younger menopausal women.

Question 2

A person cannot be good multitasked because it is hard to filter information when
multitasking. The research shows that the more a person multitasks the less his brain is able to
filter out information. These people use more energy from the parts of the brain which are not
necessary for the task. Multitasking lowers the attention o...
