The lines are written in y = mx+b form. A hint is to use m1 and m2.

y=mx+b

parallel means that the slope is the same but b can be different indicating a translation

an example is

y=2x+1

y=2x+2 these lines are parralel since they will never cross and they increase at the same rate

if m is 2 and the other is -1/2 it is perpendicular lines

m1=m2 is your equation
