Sexual assault, also sometimes referred to as "rape," is a serious criminal act that can do devastating and lasting physical, psychological, and emotional harm to victims. Understanding what motivates individuals to engage in this type of sexual violence is an important first step in preventing it from happening in the first place.
For this assignment, select one of the theoretical perspectives on rape (feminist, psychopathological, or evolutionary/biological) and, in a 1-2 page paper, do the following:
Describe in your own words the main elements of the theoretical perspective you chose
Discuss what you believe to be the strengths and weaknesses of that perspective
Explain how an understanding of that perspective helps in also understanding the causes of acquaintance rape, spousal rape, or prison rape offenses
