a) The theory used to help create the toy
The theory I used to create the toy is based on Jean Piaget's theory which focuses on
cognitive development. Based on the theory suggestions of how children grow into four different
mental development stages, the toy will allow children to gain knowledge and understanding of
intelligent nature (Carey et al. 2015). The toy will focus on children in the concrete operational
stages (seven to eleven years) of mental development. Through this theory, children will acquire
ways of dealing with various operational processes that build their mind to solve problems.
Through this toy, children will act like scientists or detectives and play the role of performing
experiments, making observations and learning how the world works. It will allow them to
interact with the world as they gain knowledge of solving puzzles, answering questions and
answering riddles as per the instructions of the game. The game will prepare them to
accommodate new ideas and use these ideas with the already known knowledge that they have, a
way of making them open-minded to ideas. Under this theory, the board game will focus on the
way children can use what they know to solve a problem that will allow them to progress on the
board or progress in each step of life. For the concrete operational stage, the problems or puzzles
solved will be easy as per this age and they will progress based on various problems they solve
