Introduction
One of the fundamental truths that come to stand out for every one of us is that our
character is a composite of our habits. This is primarily because our habits are consistent and
often unconscious patterns that constantly express our character and highly produce our
effectiveness or even our ineffectiveness. It is a truth that is supported by the words of Aristotle,
‘We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then is not an act, but a habit.’ However, it is worth

born effective, we can embrace these habits and learn them. Acquiring these identified habits can
give us the character to succeed. This paper revolves around recognizing the vital habits as
shared by Stephen R. Covey.

what happens in their lives. Proactivity revolves around recognizing our responsibility when it
comes to making things happen (Covey, 1991). It is worth noting that the people who emerge or
in other words end up achieving good works are those individuals who take the initiative to
perform whatever is necessary, as well as consistent with correct principles, to get the job done.
