1.      As a result of human activity (such as logging), large forests are becoming fragmented into several smaller forests.

a)      How might the increasing isolation of population in these forests influence their evolution?

b)      How might the fragmentation affect the evolution of a large mammal, like a moose, compared to a small invertebrate, like a worm?

(a)The destruction of the habitat will result in a reduction of biodiversity as a result of extinction. The larger species are the ones that are most likely to disappear first. The remaining species will evolve to morphologically to consume less food.

(b) considering that large mammals consume more food, they will be more affected than smaller animals. The larger mammals such as mooses will thus exhibit more evolutionary characteristics than the smaller species such as the worms.
