Please explain trinomial facroring

example.

factoring 2x^2-9x+10 ; ax^2+bx+c

ac=20

b=-9 factors of ac=20 are (4*5), (-4*-5), (10*2), (-10*-2), (20*1), (-20*-1)

the factors of (ac=20) that when added gives -9 are -4 and -5

hence the equation can be written as;

2x^2-9x+10 = 2x^2-4x-5x+10

we can factor the result as;

2x^2-9x+10 = 2x(x-2)-5(x-2)

2x^2-9x+10 = (2x-5)(x-2)
