Ephemisms are a polite way of conveying a disagreable thing without sounding vulgar. You can apply it during political campaigns so as not to sound vulgar infront of the electrolates.

Examples:

1.Secretary: personal assistant

2. Garbage collector: sanitation worker.

Yes I have applied it at work.

Euphesims may be applied to specific situations and cultures for example sex workers:

1. Prostitute: lady of the night

2. Be sterile: shoot blanks.

3.making sex: making whoopee

I feel justified in using it because it is a polite language to a rude response

I have had several while at school and I liked them.
