a tire dealer sells 2 tires for as much as he paid for 3 tires. he paid 240 for a dozen tires. what is the total profit on 12 tires?

x = cost to the dealer of 1 tire

selling price =3x/2

In the 12 tires deal he paid 240/12=20 for one tire.  That's equal = x

His selling price is 3x/2=3*20/2=30

Profit for one tire: 30-20=10

Profit for 12 tires: 12*10=120
