Stories have such a strong influence on children because of the messages they send. People learn from experiences or sequence of events from others lives and it teaches them what is right and what is wrong and makes the mind stronger. So it makes perfect sense why a repressive regime, a government would ban books and reading because they are trying to undermine and control the people to follow their way of life. By taking away books, including fairy tales or stories from other countries and calling them “poisonous weed” their weakening the mind of the public and taking its freedom of thought away so there will not be a rebel who would stand against them or maybe challenge their lifestyle. But stories have such a great value and send such a great message that sometimes they can be as important as books that contain factual information.
