Description

MLA FORMAT, APROX. 1000 WORDS. You will have to determine which causes or effects you're going to write about. For instance, if there are too many causes for you to deal with in the scope of your essay, you'll have to decide what are the main causes, the ones you have to treat, and then suggest to your reader that there are other, relatively minor, causes outside the scope of your essay. The one caution you have to keep in mind is not to become logically simplistic when considering causes. A cause and effect paper often appears to be structured along the lines of a Process Essay, and the structure can, in fact, be similar. The difference, of course, is that a process essay explains how something works or how something came to be as it is, whereas a cause and effect essay explains why something works as it does or why it came to be what it is. http://grammar.ccc.commnet.edu/grammar/composition...

Causes and Effects of Global Warming
Global warming is described as the increase of the earth’s average temperature. With the
continuous rise of the mean temperature on the earth, there is increased frequency of disasters
such as floods, droughts, and hurricanes. The earth’s surface average air temperature over the
past one century has risen by a little less than 1 degree Celsius (Venkataramanan & Smitha p.
226). The cause of this increase in temperature is global warming and the effect is change in
climate. The severity of global warming has been increased by deforestation. Burning fossil fuels
that rises the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is a major contributor to global warming and the
greenhouse effect. Among other effects, climate change results in increase in the number of
human beings suffering from injury, disease, and death from the resultant droughts, storms, heat
waves, and floods. Therefore, this paper will explore the causes and effects of global warming on
the earth.
Causes of Global Warming
One of the major causes of global warming is burning of fossil fuels. Natural gas, oil,
coal are fossil fuels that have become an integral part of the modern life. These fuels are
employed on large basis for transportation and to manufacture electricity. The burning of fossil
fuels makes them to release carbon stored in them which them combines with the oxygen found
in the air to form carbon dioxide (Venkataramanan & Smitha p. 227). Additionally, increase in
