The correlation value , when there are multiple independent variables is multiple correlation. It is the equivalent of Pearson correlation coefficient. It is denoted by R. In the case of multiple independent variables R is always positive. But Pearson correlation in the case of one independent variable is denoted by r and it can be positive or negative. Multiple correlation and Pearson correlation will have the same magnitude in the case of one independent variable.
