Instructions: Using the same Nursing Theory as Module 3, complete an evaluation of the theory you select as it applies to contemporary nursing. Use the following questions as subheadings; use narrative writing, and follow APA writing guidelines, including acknowledgement of sources. For each question determine if this was a strength or weakness of the theory.You must have a title page and a reference page. The evaluation outline is adapted from the Synthesized Method for Theory Evaluation, McEwen & Wills (2014), p.108. Do not answer with “yes” or “no” responses.

Support your responses with a minimum of 3 (three) references. You may use the course textbook as one of your references, as applicable.

I was disappointed in the overall grades for the assignments this week. Several of you did not use APA to format your papers nor use the example provided at the beginning of the course. The students that did use those resources received high grades because they were able to meet the criteria of the assignment.

For week 4, make sure you use APA for your papers. Address the strengths and weaknesses of each question. The example provided demonstrates how the paper should be set up with headings.

Read the comments on your papers. If you did not format your paper at all I only wrote on the paper not in APA.

Make sure the references you are using are peer reviewed and within 5 years unless it is a classic. The most common peer reviewed resources are books and journals. Websites are not peer reviewed, especially websites. Slideshare is not a peer reviewed source. Stay with books and journals for your references.

Operationally and Theoretically Description of the Concept
The concepts are operationally and theoretically defined in self-care deficit nursing
theory or also known as Orem’s theory of nursing. The major concepts of nursing theories that
are essential for their metaparadigm which include environment, health, nursing, and person.
Orem theory has indicated nursing concept, the science and art of nursing which is interventions
of nursing. The theory states where the professional knowledge of nurses is applied when taking
care of a patient, by technical or procedural skills and also when to use physical touch.
Concerning the concept of a person, the theory has indicated the activities or practice that an
individual performs are initiates in maintaining their health. The ability of a human to engage in
self-care is conditioned by development state, age, life exercise, fitness, available resources and
sociocultural orientation (Smith et al. 2015).
The Orem’s theory of nursing also utilizes the concept of health which is relative to the
person and is defined according to the perspective of the patient. Every individual has a different
