For this paper, you are acting an MIS intern for the company you identified at the beginning of the semester ( Fifth Third Bank) . Based on what you’ve learned through the first 12 chapters, you have been asked to submit a proposal to your pseudo company management (me) on the need to invest in an appropriate information system to replace the manual processes the company employs today or an upgrade to their current information system. The paper will have a 1 page executive summary with 5 pages of supporting information listing the issues today and the benefits of implementing a real information system. The paper should be 12 Point Times New Roman and double spaced with 1 inch margins. Executive Summary
A management information system is an evolving field that has a broad application in the modern
business environment. The technology is used in the management of huge data sets and in making
complex decisions using data analysis. The application of MIS is prevalent in e-commerce to
support billing. Management information system- MIS can be used in the strategic planning of the
Fifth Third Bank through the identification of needs, planning and budgeting for the organization
to promote the achievement of its goals. The bank can integrate its IT infrastructure and emerging
IT to facilitate its process of service delivery to the customers. It includes the use of computer
platforms to offer computing services that connect to all the stakeholders of the bank. The
organization is expected to face various ethical and social issues which include informational rights
and obligations. Other topics include property rights obligations. A database and information
management is a system that creates and manage database by providing the users and programmer
with different ways to develop, maintain, retrieve and update data. The Fifth Third Bank can use
the database management system in the creation and management of its records. It can use IT
communication to improve its service delivery, sales, customer care and marketing. However, the
organization is exposed to numerous information security issues such as financial attacks where
intruders seek to gain access to the information system of the company. It, therefore, needs a high
level of information security and frequently updating its system. The e-commerce of the bank
involves the exchange of its offering with the customers using online platforms. Knowledge
management and decision making are necessary to support the bank in optimizing its process of
decision making.
