If I'm doing an assignment and the pass mark is 40% and I have to do 2 assignments to pass. One assignment is for 20% of the overall marks and one is for 80% of the overall marks. If the assignment is 300 marks overall (I'm assuming 120 marks is needed to pass) and I got 100 percent of the marks in the 20% assignment. How many marks from the 80% assignment will I need to get overall if the test is out of 100.

Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!

40%=pass

20% of overall=assign1

80% of overall=assign2

300 marks

120 marks needed to pass, got 100 percent of marks in 20% assignment so 300*.2=60

so we need to get 60 more marks

so 300-120=180 and we need to get 60/180=.33333333 so we need 33.3333 marks from the 100

this is because the total is 300 and 20% is at 100% = 60 marks, so we still need 60 since we need 120. there are still 180 marks so we need 60/180, which is 1/3, and out of 100 thats 33.333333 marks.
