Neptune has a radius of 2.48 × 10^7 m and an escape velocity of 23,300 m/s. What is the mass of Neptune? G = 6.67 × 10^-11 N•m^2 /kg^2 .

Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!

:V(escape)= squareroot[(2GM)/r]

 23,300= squareroot[2* 6.67 × 10^-11 * M /2.48 × 10^7 ]

542890000 = 13.34*× 10^-11 * M /2.48 × 10^7

M=1008877499025867 = 10* 10 ^14 kg

Please let me know if you need any clarification. I'm always happy to answer your questions.

I didn't understand what you send me also, according to my homework the answer should be  1.01 × 10^26 kg  can you please tell me how i can get  1.01 × 10^26 kg in this problem?

ok please wait i will solve it again

542890000 = 13.34*× 10^-11 * M /2.48 × 10^7

(5.4* 10^9) * 2.48 * 10^7 =13.34*× 10^-11 * M

13.39 * 10^15/ 13.34 *10^-11 = M

M= 1.01* 10^26 kg

sorry for the earlier mistake there was a problem in my caculator....
