A man jogs at a speed of 1.1 m/s. His dog waits 2.1 s and then takes off running at a speed of 2.2 m/s to catch the man. How far will they have each traveled when the dog catches up with the man? Answer in units of m.
Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!
Let the man got caught after t second....
distance traveled by man in t sec = Speed * time = 1.1 *t m
distance traveled by dog in (t-2.1) sec = Speed * time = 2.2*(t-2.1) m
the moment when dog caught man : Distance traveled by both will be same hence
1.1t = 2.2 (t-2.1)
or 1.1t = 2.2t -4.62
1.1t = 4.62 ot t = 4.2 sec
Hence distance = 1.1*4.2 = 4.62 m (Answer)
