Question 1
Married career women challenged the idea that men were better than them. In the past many
jobs favored men and there was great inequality in the workplace. Women also challenged the
belief that they must rely on men in order to earn a living.
Question 2
Married career women mainly took jobs that were lowly paid and that were of low status.
This was mainly because the women were being denied access to higher education which would
have enabled them secure better jobs.
Question 3
Married career women faced two sets of problems. These were; Inequality in the
workplace and their poor socio-economic status. Today, women continue to face the challenge of
inequality in the workplace. Some jobs are believed to be for men which are also better paying.
Question 4
A financially successful wife made the husband feel threatened after realizing that a
woman can do even better than him. It was therefore hard to accept this fact but later the husband
realized that he did not have a choice. This was especially after realizing that the woman could
also contribute to the family’s upkeep.
Question 5
A psychiatrist in Life Magazine described female ambition as having the ability to
become anything they want. However, this ambition is still being undermined especially in the
workplace where they are given less encouragement.
