One of the ratttionales for studying history is to learn from the past and make better
decisions that will improve not only the lives of people in the present but also the future. Among
the parts of history that have been instrumental in changing what has happened in the past in
countries is the 1933 right-wing revolution in German that led to the Nazis taking over the
economy of the country and suppressing the socialists and everyone that opposed the leadership
of the Nazis. The year is important because it is when Adolf Hitler became the leader of German
and vowed to accomplish his missions. The period is very different from the current day
America.
In German 1933, the Nazis took power under the leadership of Adolf Hitler. Soon after,
the Reichstag burned and the government blamed the communists for the fire even though Van
Der Lubbe, a Dutch council Communist was arrested around the scene and tried in a court of
law. Therefore, the Nazis declared the Reichstag Fire Decree. The decree was meant to limit the
civil liberties of the people of German under the leadership of the Nazis. The repression of the
rights of people in the country started hours after the burning of the Reichstag. Rather than ban
the Communist Party also called Kommunistische Partei Deutschlands in German (KPD), Hitler
chose to treat membership to the communist party as committing treason because most judges
though that the KPD was responsible for the fire. KPD was then forbidden in German from
March in the same year (Gross, 2016). Therefore, the party was effectively down-regulated in
1933, and the people of the country were unable to raise their voices against the misdeeds of
their government.
The situation of German in 1933 is very different from the current situation in the United
States of America. In the current day the United States of America, the government indeed

sometimes oversteps its mandate like Hitler did in German when he declared the Reichstag Fire
Decree. However, it is not easy for a revolution such as the one that occurred in German to
happen in the present day united states of America. Several recent incidents have shown the
government of president Trump overstepping its mandate. For example, the government has
enforced Immigration laws that were unconstitutional. Currently, there are many families of
people who entered the country illegally that have been separated despite the cries form people
to reunite families. The propensity of the president to create and enforce unconstitutional laws
became evident when he signed the executive order that was discriminative against people from
particular Muslim countries (Almasy & Darran, 2017). However, the laws of the united states of
America and the structure of government has made it impossible for leaders to change laws as
they please and create revolutions like the one that was led by Hitler in 1933 that involved
stripping people of their civil liberties (Gross, 2016). The people of the U.S.A are protected by
the constitution that has ensured that there are a separation and division of power that provides
that arms of the government are semi-autonomous. The system of government in the United
States of Amer...
