A sample of carbon dioxide(CO2) has a mass of 55g and occupies 3.3L at 100C. What pressure does the gas exert (in kPa)?

In both questions we are going to use the ideal gas law PV=nRT

Q1 : So we have n=(PV)/(RT)

P=149 kPa, V=15.9 L, R=8.314 kPa•L/mol•K and T=273+28=301 K

So n=(149*15.9)/(8.314*301)=0.95 moles

Q2 : We have P=(nRT)/V or n=m/M so P=(mRT)/(M*V)

T=273+100= 373 K and M(CO2)=44 g/mol

P=(55*8.314*373)/(3.3*44)=1,175 kPa
