Even though the nuclear family only makes up 25% of all families in the United States,  we continue to view it as the ideal family unit. If a system is failing, can it still be considered ideal?

The whole point is this: is the system failing? It can only be said to fail after trying it, and being committed to it. Unfortunately, lack of commitment and partner change has become so common.

What is needed is to assess the different types of families - nuclear, one parent, same sex parents etc, and find out:

1) how happy are the "parents"

2) how happy are the children (if any)

3) how long has the relationship been going on?

4) which type of family is best?
