violence, emotional abuse and controlling behaviors. These are seen in both same-sex and
heterosexual relationships. Domestic violence occurs in all settings such as socioeconomic,
religious, and cultural groups and has become a global burden and a concern in public health.
The prevalence rates for same-sex domestic violence (SSDV) vary from that of other sex
domestic violence (OSDV) due to the methodological issues that are related to diverse
definitions of sexual orientation. Studies have identified differences between SSDV and OSDV
(Stiles-Shields & Carroll, 2014). This include internalized and externalized stressors that are
connected to being a sexual minority that comes with domestic violence in an attempt to create
vulnerabilities, difficulty in accessing services, and increased risk of sexual trauma experiences.
The prevalence rates of lifetime intimate partner violence on general population on
women are 32.9% and men 21.8%, on heterosexual women was 32.3% and men 28.7%, on
