The first technique used by Jennie in the case presented is clarification. When Sue got
into a crisis, Jennie started to inquire from Sue about her status. Jennie starts by asking some
clarifications on the things that happened after Sue received information about her health status.
Jennie asked Sue a number of follow up questions to seek clarification and understand her
situation at hand. This helped Jennie and Sue understand Sue’s situation before offering the
necessary therapy in the process. As part of the clarification questions, Jennie asked Sue if she
talked about her treatment options and if she had any other opinion about her health situation.
Through these questions, Jennie and Sue understood the situation in a better way.
The second technique used to handle this situation is the use of role transition technique.
This is a strong method used in making the patient accept the current situation and deal with it
