Energy Conversion: Solar Power
The Union of Concerned Scientists posits that all sources of energy constitute economic
and environmental challenges and considerations that all stakeholders should examine in
attempts to use them. Energy remains a fundamental need for people in their daily lives because
of the functions that it performs. Energy conversion is a fundamental part of the process of using
energy resources to meet human needs (Richardson, 2018). In this research paper, the article
examines solar energy conversion and addresses economic and environmental considerations,
technology, applications and history of solar energy conversion, and cost comparison based on
the cost of a per kilowatt-hour. Further, it highlights that merits and demerits of the applications
of solar energy conversion.
Economic and Environmental challenges and considerations of solar energy conversion
Solar energy is a renewable source of energy whose use continues to expand as nations seek
ways to address climate change effects and global warming emissions. Conversion of solar
energy entails a process where the energy from the sun changes from one form to another
(Sharma, 2018). Solar energy is converted into heat, chemical, and electrical energy for use in
