Homeland Security
After many years of having a sentiment of been the nation of openness to everybody the
United States Government was changing their immigration policy gradually. The key
challenges over immigration and foreign policy are extended. Even in colonial years the
nation’s founders feared that immigrants might foster challenges to the political system
being developed in the country1. During the 70’s the immigration policy issues has been
tied to the rate of flow of immigrants effects on racial/ethnic mix of the population,
economic well-being of citizens, and demands for public services2. Shifts in immigration
policy follow major recessions or depressions and come during periods of social unrest
and turmoil3. The immigration quotas were for different reasons, mostly for a job after
18204. The illegal immigration increased with the unintended result of the new
immigration policies after 19685. The illegal immigration Act of 1996 creates the border
patrol to stems the flow of illegal immigration6
The refugees and asylees, were people that faces persecution in their natives countries7.
The economic concerns of the immigration policies argue that immigrants take jobs held
by natives or they are willing to work at very low wages, depressing the income of the
native population8 the crime rates is another issue because the opponents of immigration
blame them for high crime rates, and are taking the jobs of the native US.-borne9 The
social and political culture opponents claims that ethnic groups it is threatening the
values of our society and that ethnic groups have separatist notions to lead to the
fragmentation of a region into several states with no cooperation10The foreign policies
challenges are considered between the realism and the idealism of their proponents of the
classic foreign policy is that the nations doesn’t have any obligations for the justice to
pursue, hence ,the national interest is a legitimate goal of foreign policy, and the only
defensible goal11 About the policy areas that may or may not have competing goals it’s
certainly competing goals between the homeland security and foreign policies because
when we are creating laws and regulations to protect our borders we are restricting the
different civil liberties alike the privacy right when the homeland security could be
affected by terrorism or drugs dealers, the U.S. Government could intercept the civil

communications to find out national threats. 12 The management of the foreign policy
could be affecting our diplomacy relationships to a levels of crisis because disagreements
could happen but potential target nations must consider potential victims of terror and the
realists argue about the balance of concerns from the victims with the interest of the
whole nation13
Evaluate the above with a Biblical model of government and statesmanship.
The homeland security and foreign policy being looking thought the eyes of the
sovereign government of God shows two particular characteristics:
A basic point of distinction between the two terms is that power is the ability to do
something, while authority is the permission to do something. If God has all authority,
then we must act according to His authority. Just because we have the power (ability) to
do something does not mean therefore that we have God's authority (or permission) to do
it. The Bible affirms this distinction between power and authority, including in the realm
of government. A key word in the New Testament which helps us understand this
difference is the word exousia14

DISCUSSION BOARD FORUM INSTRUCTIONS
You will take part in 3 Discussion Board Forums in which you will post a thread presenting your
own opinion on the assigned topic, writing 400–500 words. Then, you will post replies of 200–
250 words each to 3 or more classmates’ threads. Each reply must be unique and must integrate
ideas (and citations) from the required reading. Merely posting the same reply in 2 places is not
sufficient and may be treated as a form of academic misconduct. The original thread must
incorporate ideas and citations from all of the required readings and presentations for that
module/week. It must also address statecraft as part of a meaningful discussion of effective
statesmanship. The reply posts must also integrate ideas and citations from the required readings
and presentations for the module/week.
In this course, Discussion Board Forums play an exceptionally important role. Consider these
threads and replies to be formal communications on the same level as those you would conduct
with employers, clients, or colleagues in the professional, political, or academic world. As such,
they must be free of grammatical errors, must be properly formatted in current Turabian style,
and must consist of well-reasoned, contemplative, and substantive posts and replies, rather than
mere ipse dixit. These threads and replies must be adequately supported by citations of the
sources or support for your ideas as well as any quoted materials.
Open, courteous discussion will yield the greatest opportunities for growth in this class. Both
responding to other students and responding to the instructor will count as 1 reply post.
Remember that the art of communication is in many ways the lifeblood of effective political
leadership. Everything you write—every paper, post, and email—creates or reinforces an
impression of you. Begin to cultivate the communication skills of the statesman and
stateswoman—the ability to logically and persuasively speak the truth with compassion and
respect. Each response post must include new research and analysis, and must build upon the
ideas communicated in the original post. Thus, they must go beyond merely restating and
affirming what a classmate has said and instead bring in more depth, research and analysis.
Accordingly, each response post must include citations from the required reading and
presentations.
Responding to a classmate’s thread requires both the addition of new ideas and analysis. A
particular point made by the classmate must be addressed and built upon by your analysis in
order to move the conversation forward. Thus, the reply is a rigorous assignment that requires
you to build upon the thread to develop deeper and more thorough discussion of the ideas
introduced. As such, replies that merely affirm, restate or unprofessionally quarrel with the
previous thread(s) and fail to make a valuable, substantive contribution to the discussion will
receive appropriate point deductions.

This course utilizes the Post-First feature in all Discussion Board Forums. This means you will
only be able to read and interact with your classmates’ threads after you have submitted your
thread in response to the provided prompt. For additional information on Post-First, click here
for a tutorial.
File attachments are discouraged because they may slow readings. See the grading rubric for
specific guidelines and grading procedures.
Post your thread by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Thursday of the assigned module/week. Post your replies
by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Sunday of the same module/week.
