- Differentiate between at least three groups of stakeholders impacted by the ACA.
- Examine the financial impact of the ACA on each group of stakeholders.
- Summarize benefits of the ACA on each group of stakeholders.
- Summarize drawbacks of the ACA on each group of stakeholders.

Obama Care and Stakeholders
The Affordable Care Act is commonly referred to as Obama care. The program was
signed back in the year 2010 with the aim to minimize health insurance to low-income earners,
children, and older adults. The program also strives to provide better coverage of health
insurance for Americans, with the ability to lower the cost of healthcare (Goodrich & Conway,
2013). Regardless of the program registering success, challenges are facing ACA that include
funding, general support from the public, and adoption across the states.
The Obama Care program has many stakeholders from the public to non-government
institutions. Some of the stakeholders involved in the formulation of the program include the
government, health insurers, political parties and leaders, commercial groups that are related to
the policies, the Supreme Court, the Republican Congress Committee, and the public. The
engagement of the stakeholders has different motives, while some support the progress of the
Act, on the other side stakeholders like the Republicans show rejection of some of the program
policies. For instance, the debate between the Republicans and the Democrats show that
contrasting position of the Republican (Compilation of Patient Protection and Affordable Care
Act, 2010). While the Democrats were concerned about creating a system aside of the Medicaid
program that would cover everyone in a single payer system, the Republicans opposed the
initiative.
