evidence in the case?

The best step to take is to first conduct an investigation that would shed a clear
understanding of the situation before taking any action. Global supply chains are normally
characterized with many cultural, regulatory and social differences that every manager should
understand in order to implement appropriate actions that would foster the success of the supply
chain. If there is enough evidence that the claims of child labor staged against Rangan Exports is
accurate, then Rangan Exports would be in violation of IKEA’s clause that prohibits suppliers
from using child labor. At this point, as Marianne Barner, I would have two options to choose
from – either to terminate the contract with Rangan Exports or to issue a warning to the supplier.

Terminating the contract with Rangan Exporters is consistent with the policies set for
IKEA’s suppliers. Though terminating the contract is right from a legal perspective, it would put
IKEA to the disadvantage of losing an important supplier to the effect that the company...
