In the event of natural disaster, the community is dependent on the officials such as those
from public health. These include the director of public health and the nurses. Public health
nurses are the ones responsible for offering leadership to the community. They also offer
planning, policy, and expertise in practice when it comes to the preparedness of disaster. Public
health nurses are thus required to understand psychological, psychosocial, health, environmental
and cultural needs of the community members so as to offer leadership to the general population,
healthcare workers as well as trained professionals (Achora & Kamanyire, 2016). Natural
disasters refer to natural events that are beyond human control. These include storms, floods,
earthquakes, and hurricane. These natural disasters lead to loss of life or displacement of the
