Charles Drew was an African American specialist, and medicinal scientist.H e was
known as the Pioneer of the blood donation center. Born in Washington DC in 1904 June 3rd 19
to Richard and Nora Drew, of Scott, English and Indian descent. Charles had his young kinfolk,
Joseph, Elsie, Nora and Eva. Their childhood stressed scholarly training and church enrollment,
and also community information and individual fitness, obligation, and autonomy. At twelve
years old, he sold Washington papers in the neighborhood; in under a year, he had six more
young men working for him and covering a more extensive territory. As he got more established,
