African art piece analysis
Art is one of the works that are used as a memory for past events. In some communities,
artistic sculptures are often used as a symbol for a certain belief. The picture in the link shows
the great bieri sculpture which is a symbol in one of the African communities. It is a wooden
sculpture which was created by the fang tribe which is one of the major tribes in Gabon. They
believe that it has some spiritual powers which are able to protect the skulls of the ancestors or
their bones from evil spirits. It is an essential tool in the community which defines their culture.
From the sculpture, every feature in it has a meaning. All the symbols are described as
representations of burial symbols (Biro, 2014). In the fang society, artistic sculptures were used
