Overview
The outside in strategy focuses on the customer value, taking it as its starting point and
end point. Therefore, companies using this approach focus on creating and nurturing their
customers by providing high caliber customer value. They put themselves in the position of their
customers and view themselves from their perspective. It also entails having a firm vision that
drives you forwards, and there is no room for looking behind one’s shoulder (Albert, 2000). On
the other hand, the inside out strategy is its contrast, whereby the perspective begins with a focus
on the company’s own capabilities and strengths. This approach enables the business to take
account of its resources and look at providing them more efficiently. The problem with this
approach is that by nature, it’s limited and demonstrates slowness in adopting in the market
place.
Language Ability
Language ability is an outside in strategy as it focuses on customer value, taking it as its
starting point and end point. In this case, the company perceives that communication is key to
achieving its goals and objectives, and as such, requires language mastery in order to be in a
position to communicate efficiently with its consumers. In this regard, the company will seek to
adapt to new language abilities, even if it means learning more languages or seeking a language
interpreter, in order to be in a position to communicate efficiently with the customers (Calhoun
& Joyce, 1998). In the learning context, especially under the early childhood education, language
ability is what facilitates communication between the children and fellow children, or children
and adults. Therefore, this contributes significantly to the children’s emergent literacy.
