A.  Select one narrative children’s book that is appropriate for either kindergarten, first-, second-, or third-grade students, taking into consideration the specific needs, interests, and reading levels of the students.

Note: You may select more than one book for this task, or you may use the same book for all three of the lessons created in part B.

B.  Design three lesson plans to teach reading skills to either a kindergarten, first-, second-, or third-grade classroom using the book you selected in part A as your resource by doing the following:

1.  Create a lesson plan on either phonological or phonemic awareness.

2.  Create a lesson plan on one of the following topics:

•  word recognition

•  phonics

•  concepts of print

3.  Create a lesson plan on oral reading fluency.

Note: If your state does not have oral reading fluency standards for the grade level you have chosen, you may design a lesson plan on vocabulary or comprehension skills instead.

4.  Describe how a technology component is incorporated into each of your three lesson plans.

C.  Justify how the children’s book you selected is appropriate for each of the following lesson plans created in part B:

1.  Lesson plan on either phonological or phonemic awareness

2.  Lesson plan on one of the following topics:

•  word recognition

•  phonics

•  concepts of print

3.  Lesson plan on oral reading fluency

D.  When you use sources, include all in-text citations and references in APA format.
