“12 Rules for Life,” he attempts to sum up rules that make life successful in twelve points. A
self-help book, the aim of the author is to help provide a companionship for the audience
through the highs and lows of life. Collected from questions posed to him online and on other
platforms, he compiled all of them, and came up with these general answers to help those
who had questions understand the essence, and the guidelines they need to observe to succeed
in life.
The first ethic and moral rule of life according to the author is to stand up straight
with your shoulder back. By this, the author means to accept the terrible responsibility of life,
knowing there will be wins, and challenges along the way (Peterson et al. 2018). Everyone
passes through the unconscious paradise of childhood, where people are lacking in reason,
accountability, and comprehension, but after childhood is over everyone has to face the
responsibility of life. They will have to look out for themselves and others for those who will
have families, and responsibility defines these aspects of life. One needs to be articulate, and
put forward their desires with a right to own them, and walk tall while dealing with the
