Playing poker is a game of skill, not chance or luck. For those who have played the game
and graduated into gaining various skills, it is all about ensuring that as a player you make the
right move at the right time before other players deliver a win with a full house or with a straight
flush. The main reason why skill rivals greatly over luck in this game as illustrated by Leonard et
al. (2015) is the consistency applied by skilled players to win a game over the competitor’s
numerous times. Where luck dominates a game against skill, then the poker game becomes a
game of chance or luck, and on the other hand, if skill dominates luck or chance, which happens
in most cases, then the game becomes a game of skill. There is a substantial need for players to
be skilful to ensure they win successfully. The reason for this is in most cases money is involved
and other forms of bets made that leads to people losing all their life savings and for others a
fortune. Where luck is used in playing the game, it then becomes easy for a skilled player to
predict the performance of a lucky player. A skilled player in such instances knows when to call
it quits and when to go all in since there is an assured loss or wins respectively. This is advocated
by those who have made millions in poker games since they have mastered the best way to win
and how to avoid losing consistently. Hence it all narrows down to poker not being a game of
chance but one dependent on skills. Skill dominates luck in poker; for one to win it is pure skill
whereas losing amounts to bet on luck
In most cases, skilled players have had better chances of winning over unskilled players.
This is where the tipping point is factored in, which indicates that skill wins at least three out
four times for the skilled players, whereas lucky players who are unskilled will stand to win once
or at times lack to acquire a win. It is here that hands game comes into effect. For the unskilled
players, their chances of winning the game work well below 1500 hands where they become
