My initial idea would be that something may be wrong with one the gears connected to the speedometer, which happens quite often after accidents that occur to the front of the vehicle. They can be repaired at any auto shop, however, if you have enough car knowledge, you can do it as well! The speedometer is connected to the speedometer gauge, which is located (usually in most cars) under the dash. Be sure to disconnect that battery as well by taking either the positive or negative out of circuit. Usually, you'll need to unscrew the cover to the gauge with a screwdriver, as well as disconnect the wires coming out the gauge. I've seen it being done and they usually come off cleanly without hassle. After all this, you can inspect and see if one of the gears is broken! If so, you can purchase the parts in any auto shop and then put the speedometer gauge back in. I hope this helps out in some way. Best of luck!
