A  square table is to be covered with small square ceramic tiles. The table has an area of 4 square feet. How many tiles are needed if each tile measures 3 inches on one side?

3 inch on each side gives us 9 square inches per each tile. we can convert the ft into inches or inches into fts in order to be able to divide through.

one foot is equal  to 12 inches!

so 3 inches would be  0.25 ft

area of the sqiare tile in feets= 0.25^2

=0.0625

4ft^2........of the table

divide by 0.0625 ft^2 of the tiles

=64 tiles!
