After adding 4 extra inches for each corner, how much molding will Jim need to enclose a window that measures 36 inches by 40 inches?

36+2(4)=44 inches

40+2(4)=48inches

area=48x44=2,112 inches squared

old area=36x40=1,440 inches squared

difference=2112-1440=672 inches of molding
