Respond in writing to the case questions for

Casias v. Wal-Mart Stores (Ch 1, p 7) and Geleta v. Gray (Ch 3, p 100)

  • Include cover page and reference page.

There have been different views by many people concerning decisions that are made by courts
in certain cases. By definition, a legal case can be thought as any dispute between opposing
parties or individuals that can be resolved by a court of law or some other form of law.
It is very difficult to terminate employee’s contracts by the managers due to the difficulty in
the problems at hand. Making such decisions has always been problematic as most of the
suspended employees occasionally end up in courts. Many organizations have taken the
advantage of the employment-at-will laws to victimize the employees. Research has shown
that many employees have been fired for petty or o reasons.
This essay will analyse the disputes between Joseph Casias and the War-Mart Stores and Geleta
vs. Gray disputes.
Casias and the War-Mart Stores Dispute
What was the legal issue in this case and what did the appeal court decide?
War-Mart Stores is one of the case companies that hire employees based on the use of the atwill basis. In this case, Casias was terminated without any justification by the company about
the reason for the termination. The main reason as to why this employee was terminated,
according to the corporation, was that he was a drug smoker which was in contrary to the
company’s policies. According to the employee as well as his attorney, there were legitimate
reasons for using the Lorcet. The usage was due to health reasons; in addition, the drug helped
him reduce pain.
