The rate of cooling (as such by Newton) is given as = KA(t1 - t2)/d

where K= thermal conductivity = 0.6 in the given case
A = area of cross section
d = depth
t1-t2 = temperature difference

therefore rate of cooling = [0.6 x 695 x (25-12)] / 2.5 = 2168.4 J/s
