Gross national income in USD
Gross national income (GNI) measures the total domestic and foreign output of a country.
It is made up of the gross domestic product and factor incomes less the income earned
domestically by non-residents. Comparing GNI to GDP gives the means through which to assess
how national wealth is a factor of domestic or foreign activity. According to World Bank data
(2017), Indonesia’s GNI stood at $983.43 billion. This came following a persistent increase since
2015 as shown in the graph below. Indonesia qualifies as a lower-middle-income country.

Gross national product (USD)
Equally, since 2015, the GNP has been increasing. GDP as at 2017 is $1.016 trillion
which is an increase of 5.033% from 2016. The graph below shows the GDP of Indonesia
between 2012 and 2017.

Human development index (HDI)
HDI measures development in terms of education, life expectancy, and per capita
income. According to data by United Nations Development Programme, Indonesia is ranked
116th in terms of HDI (2018), with an HDI figure of 0.694. Indonesia's HDI has been increasing
steadily since the 1990s, and this indicates that the country is making progress. The graph below
shows the general trend in HDI for the country.
