Question description

five page research paper with 5+ sources, additionally a work cited page all in MLA

my activism point of view is that using drugs cause bloodshed. There aren’t clear statistics on how many deaths there have been behind the scenes of drug use.

My prof said: you could include horrific murders that go on in Mexico with the dismembering and skinning of victims. Would that violence be present if it was legal? Your angle could work as far as stats and stories. Our government tried to sell this with "drug use funds terrorism" PSAs during the Bush administration.

Using this to discourage the use of drugs, push more towards legalization to reduce crime rates.

College Student Activism Research Paper Write a five-page, 1500-1800 word, five or more source, essay on a problem and what college student activism could do to fix it. • You should first describe and give some evidence of the problem. • Then describe something that needs to be done to fix it. • Go on say what students have done elsewhere on this or a similar issue. • Finally, end with what students at Santa Monica College could do to fix this issue. • Black Lives Matter and police brutality • College costs o State and/or federal funding o Student financial aid for living expenses o Student loan forgiveness • Climate change o Reducing use of fossil fuels o Adopting alternative energy o Reducing the use of meat o What to do for hardest hit places • Voting rights o Voter suppression and purges o Felon voting rights o Electoral college • Immigration o Dreamers o What to do with illegal immigrants generally • Fake News? o How much of mainstream media is fake news? • Income Inequality o Tax the rich o Tax Wall St. transactions o Minimum wage o Living on it here o How much you would need to survive on a 40 hour work week o Union rights • Prisons o Ending mass incarceration o Ending privatized prisons • Internet o Net neutrality o Universal access/municipal internet • Women’s healthcare/reproductive rights o Planned Parenthood funding o Abortion restrictions • Sexual Harassment o Is it a problem in Santa Monica College? o What prevents people from reporting? o What can be done to stop it Avoid some of the obvious ones like the death penalty or abortion unless you are willing to tackle one of the harder subtopics like defending late term abortions or arguing against the morning after pill. For more ideas, check the article on your issue in Wikipedia. Whichever topic you choose, figure out a way to narrow it. Include works cited page at the end. This doesn't count toward the page or word requirements. Your introduction should get the reader interested in your topic and include a clear thesis. If your issue is not widely known, include background or facts of problem. The bulk of your sources for presenting the problem and possible solutions should NOT be politicians or opinion makers, but facts, studies, and relevant news stories from sources most people would consider trustworthy. Actions students have taken on the issues elsewhere can be from advocacy and opinion sources although if you can make your points with unbiased sources that’s even better. Also include at least one argument for the other side, preferably the best one, and show why it's wrong or not enough to outweigh your argument. Most of your sources should be from this millennium, or fresher. Place a list of works cited at the back of your essay. Works cited means you actually refer to these sources in your paper. You should have at least five sources. You may use at most two biased or advocacy sources, and those more for arguments than facts. Your essay should use MLA format. Only issue was the guy's response time which was a bit long, which made me a bit anxious. Reached out to the help desk and they helped me out, turns out the tutors aren't all from US which meant there was a time difference. No issues on the quality.
