International Relations the Korean Peninsula
The world was shocked by the sudden arranged meeting between the President of the
United States and the President of North Korea. The shock emanates from security threats posed
by North Korea in the Korean Peninsula over its nuclear program. North Korea was developing
long-range nuclear weapons that threaten peace and security in the world. The long-range arms
race towards nuclear capacity is a global nightmare. Other countries determined to develop
nuclear weapons are China, Pakistan and India. North Korea was testing nuclear weapons
creating anxiety and tension in the Korean Peninsula.
The sudden diplomatic charm of the United States to meet the President of North Korea
surprised the world. Because of mistrust the meeting between President Donald Trump and Kim
Jung Un occurred in Singapore a country considered neutral by both countries. The United States
