Force Field Analysis
At some point in life, everybody is forced with more than one option to choose from, and
this throws one to the point of making decisions that are best for the situation at hand. To be able
to make the best decision people apply a lot of techniques and one of the techniques that can be
applied to ensure the quality of the decision is improved is the Force Field Analysis. This
technique was first used in social psychology by Kurt Lewin.
This technique works in such a way that everything is kept at equilibrium both the forces
that drive the change and those that resist the change. In such a scenario for change to take place,
the driving forces need to be strengthened, and the resisting forces should be weakened in order
for them to be in equilibrium (Burnes & Cooke, 2012). The tool becomes useful during decision
making in such a way that it analyses the forces that are for and against the decision and the
reasons behind the decisions made.
There are steps that need to be followed when this technique is applied for a successful
decision, change does not take place overnight and so one has to come up with a plan or a
proposal for change because there must be a goal or a vision that ...
