the equation is in the form of y=a(x-h)^2+k, but since (h,k)=(0,0) then;

y=a(x)^2, but diameter= 340 and depth=40, therefore, (x,y)=(340, 40)

replacing (340, 40) to the equation, 

40=a(340)^2

40=a(115600)

a=40/115600

a= 1/2890

therefore y=(1/2890)(x)^2
