You will be required to write one term paper this semester. The specifications are as follows:
- You must write a 4-6 page term paper on a topic of your choice related to mobile technology and security(ALL TOPICS MUST BE APPROVED). Some examples would include, how to avoid being a victim of cybercrime, the laws surrounding cybercrime, a recent incident related to cybercrime or pick an individual cybercrime and discuss the impact this crime has on society. Please write the term paper in a Word document and then upload it for grading.
- Your term paper outline is due at the end of Week 2.
- Your term paper is due at the end of Week 8.
- In addition to the 4-6 pages of the paper itself, you must include a title page and a reference page.
- Your title page must include the title of your paper, the date, the name of the course, your name, and your instructor’s name.
- Your reference page must be written in APA citation style, Arial or Time New Roman styles, 12-point font.
- Page margins Top, Bottom, Left Side, and Right Side = 1 inch, with reasonable accommodation being made for special situations.
- Your paper must be in your own words, representing original work. Paraphrases of others’ work must include attributions to the authors. Limit quotations to an average of no more than 3-5 lines, and use quotations sparingly. It is always better to write the information in your own words than to directly quote.

Introduction
Cybercrime refers to the crime which involves a computer as well as the network. A
machine can be used at the crime committed or it can be the target. Cybercrimes refer to the
offences which are committed against individual groups or the individuals themselves with a
criminal motive of intentionally harming the victim's reputation or causing physical/mental harm
as well as the loss to the victim either directly or indirectly by use of current telecommunication
networks internet together with the mobile phones. Cybercrime may be a threat to a person or the
security of the nation as well as financial health (Hutching and Holt, 2018).
Laws surrounding cybercrime
The legal community still devises laws which victims can use in protecting their privacy
as well as rights. Most of these laws are in the Title 18 of the criminal code of U.S and were passed
to call out strongly cybercriminals’ actions as well as cultivating healthier, online environment that
is fraud-free (Finklea and Theohary, 2015). They aim at controlling as well as preventing the
inconveniences loss as well as damage and punishing those responsible for the committed
offences.

Title 18 United States Code 2511 law, gives protection to the oral, wire as well as
interception of electronic communication for cybercrimes. The law shall punish anyone who
