The acceleration of gravity is 9.8 m/s^2. the horizontal distance from the
release point to the impact point is 6820 m.
A second package is thrown downward from
the plane with a vertical speed v1 = 56 m/s.
The magnitude of the total velocity is 224.1 m/s. What horizontal distance is traveled by this
package?

4840 = 56*t+4.9*t^2 

t = 26.23 s 

thus the distance is 217*26.23 = 5691.81 m
